I'm thinking of naming Dustin Dwyer to this year's Towers of Babel All-Star team:
That was a while ago now, but it feels like it hasn’t stopped. Every week, there’s something new and horrible to cover. But that isn’t even the worst part. The worst part is feeling like nothing we’ve done and nothing we can do will make any of it better.
We like to think it will. That’s what we try to tell people when we ask for an interview: “Tell us your story, maybe someone will listen.”
Most days it feels like no one is listening. It feels like we’re not helping, we’re just asking people to relive their trauma by speaking to us. I really feel like my reporting adds to the hurt an awful lot of the time.
Excellent points.
